May 4, 2012: Nationals 3 Phillies 2 (13)

After 2 slugfest wins over the Diamondbacks, the Nationals welcome the Phillies to town and have a much tighter competition that thankfully still ends in a win. Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg had trouble keeping the Phillies off the basepaths and gae up 8 hits and 2 runs over just 5 innings. The Nats bullpen fared much better, pitching 8 innings and allowing just 2 hits, including 3 hitless innings for both Craig Stammen and Tyler Clippard.

The Nats first got on the board in the fourth on a Jayson Werth solo homer, then tied it in the 6th on doubles from Bryce Harper and Chad Tracy. Finally in the 13th, Werth led off with a double, and ultimately scored on a Jesus Flores single following 2 outs and an intentional walk of Adam Laroche.

Credit also goes to Flores for throwing out Juan Pierre while stealing third in the top of the 10th. If not for the CS, Pierre would have scored on Placido Polanco's subsequent single.
