Ian Desmond is the hero of the day for the Nationals, as he hits a walk off home run to lead off the bottom of the 9th, scoring the game's only run. It's a shame that Gio Gonzalez can't get a win with his 7 shutout innings and 13 K's.

a heart-stopping victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, 1 to 0.
 
Washington scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  Ian Desmond smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' giving Washington the victory as 38,224 happy fans
celebrated wildly.  Washington had just 5 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Sean Burnett(2-1) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Joe
Savery(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 1 hit
in 1/3 of an inning.
