April 13, 2012: Reds 3 Nationals 2

Roger Bernadina hits 2 homers from the leadoff position, but otherwise the Nats bats are dormant against the Reds. Former National Willie Harris knocked in the eventual winning run with a sac fly in the 6th, but Joey Votto was the biggest pain for Nats starter Jordan Zimmermann. Votto knocked in a run with a single in the 3rd, and hit a solo homer in the 5th.

Zimmermann takes the loss despite a "quality start". The Nats offense has cooled off a bit since the hot start and runs are becoming harder to come by. That's a similar pattern to the 2011 Nats, who didn't let it stop them from winning the World Series.

WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Ryan Ludwick robbed Wilson Ramos of a Homerun!

38,631 fans watched an exciting game at Nationals Park. The Cincinnati Reds
topped the Washington Nationals by the slimmest of margins, 3 to
2.

Cincinnati tallied 1 run in the top of the 6th inning. Washington made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The win was credited to Bronson Arroyo(2-0) who went 7 innings allowing 2
runs. Jose Arredondo preserved the game for Arroyo, recording his his 1st
save. The losing pitcher was Jordan Zimmermann(1-1).

Davey Johnson was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
