WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Mike Aviles robbed Andy Dirks of a base hit.

The Detroit Tigers pitching staff was overwhelmed by the Boston Red Sox lineup
who plated 11 runs while Clay Buchholz(1-0)with relief help surrendered 2
runs to Detroit.

Dustin Pedroia was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He slapped a base-hit scoring
two baserunners in the 5th inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 6th
inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 8th inning. Boston had 12 hits for
the afternoon while Detroit had 8.

Max Scherzer(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering
5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. 'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at
the plate today' Pedroia said after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with
the results!
