April 15, 2012: Nationals 4 Reds 3

Roger Bernadina wasn't part of the Nats starting lineup today, but he is a big part of their win. Bernadina entered in the bottom of the 5th as a pinch hitter for starting pitcher Ross Detwiler with the Nats down 3-1. He immediately cut the deficit in half with a solo homer, and stayed in the game to play left. The game was tied by his next turn at bat thanks to a Jayson Werth double and a Rick Ankiel single, and Bernadina laid down a squeeze play that scored the go-ahead run from third. The 4-3 score would hold up as the final. Werth also deserves mention for his 3 for 4 day with 2 doubles.

39,023 fans were treated to a fine game at Nationals Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Washington Nationals won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

Washington scored 2 runs in the decisive bottom of the 6th inning with the
help of 3 hits. They ended up being the winning runs. Cincinnati tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Sean Burnett(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Burnett got relief help from Henry Rodriguez who gained credit for
his 2nd save. Sam Lecure(0-1) was given the loss in relief.
