April 9, 2012: Red Sox 7 Blue Jays 6

Newcomer Cody Ross leads the Sox with a 5 for 5 day which included his first Red Sox home run and 4 RBI. Ross knocked in the first 4 runs of the game for the Sox, then a wild pitch and a Mike Aviles single let them tie it at 6 in the 8th after blowing a 3-0 lead. Big Papi also had a big day at 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored, but no hit was bigger than Kevin Youkilis' 9th inning home run, which ends up being the difference maker in the game.

The Red Sox started the real 2012 season with Mark Melancon as their closer, but he was horribly ineffective and sent to Pawtucket by mid-April. He returned in June, but did not record his lone 2012 save until August. I decided to mimic this real life occurrence and try to use Melancon as my closer, and it works to perfection in this game, as he retires the side in order for his first Red Sox save.
