| The Nationals make it 8 satraight wins with a 4-1 win over the Marlins. The Nats gave both Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Laroche the day off, but still came through with 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th thanks to a Jayson Werth double, a Rick Ankiel RBI single and a 2-run home run from Xavier Nady. Werth knocked in one more in the 8th with a single following singles from Danny Espinosa and Mark Derosa. Derosa, Werth and Nady each had 2 hits. Stephen Strasburg went 7 and earned the win, while Tyler Clippard pitched the final 2 innings for the save. Three different pitchers have earned saves in the last 3 wins. |

Xavier Nady connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the sizzling
Washington Nationals defeated the Miami Marlins 4 to 1 at Nationals
Park.
Stephen Strasburg(3-0) delivered a fine performance for Washington. He went 7
innings and surrended up 6 hits and 1 walk. Strasburg whiffed an impressive
total of 8 Miami batters improving his ERA from 3.50 to 2.88. Neither team
was able to score until the 7th inning.
Strasburg got help from Tyler Clippard who earned his 1st save. Anibal
Sanchez(1-2) was the losing pitcher. Washington won for the 8th straight
time.
