Josh Beckett scatters 5 hits over 7 shutout innings and strikes out 10 White Sox along the way to cruise to his 3rd win of the season. Scott Atchison picked up the last 2 innings to preserve the shutout. On the offensive side, the Sox got 3 hits each from Ryan Sweeney and Dustin Pedroia.

strikeouts at US Cellular Field as the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago (AL)
White Sox by the count of 5 to 0.
 
Beckett(3-0) had a strong outing.  He gave up just 5 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings improving his ERA from 3.42 to 2.64.  Boston out-hit Chicago (AL) for
the game, 12 hits to 5.  
 
Gavin Floyd(1-2) was the loser.  'I had my good stuff today.' Beckett said.
'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going to
strike out a bunch of hitters.'
