Chase Headley had 3 base hits at PETCO Park as the San Diego Padres beat the
Washington Nationals in 10 innings by the count of 4 to 3.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. San Diego won the game
in the 10th inning. Headley doubled. Jeremy Hermida next to the plate and
he drew a walk. Cameron Maybin then drew a walk to load the bases. After an
out was recorded, Andy Parrino came to bat and lined a one-base hit making
San Diego the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. The game was
a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.
The win was credited to Huston Street(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Sean Burnett(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
