| The A's get out front early, the Red Sox come back to tie it, but blow it in the 11th. The A's led off the 11th with a walk off Alfredo Aceves, and quickly got the runner to 2nd on a steal. Kurt Suzuki singled and it looked like the tying run was going to cross the plate, but the throw from the outfield nails the runner at the plate and pickoff throw to first gets Suzuki. Suddenly a sure threat is 2 outs and the bases empty...but Aceves gives up a homer to Brandon Inge, then another single, steal, single and throwing error score another run. |

In a good matchup it was the Oakland Athletics 6, the Boston Red Sox 4 in 11
innings at Fenway Park.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Oakland won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning. Kila Ka'Aihue led off and got things
going when he drew a walk. Weeks stole second with some aggressive base
running. Kurt Suzuki then lined a base-hit. Alfredo Aceves then picked
Suzuki off first base. Brandon Inge came up to bat and lofted a solo-blast
'downtown'. Eric Sogard extended the rally and smacked a single. Oakland
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Coco Crisp then
delivered a single, and an error was also committed. Oakland had a total of
11 hits for the game.
The win went to Pedro Figueroa(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Figueroa got help from Jerry Blevins who earned his 3rd save. Aceves(2-2)
was the loser in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 4 hits in 2 and 2/3 innings.
