October 10, 2012: Nationals 17 Phillies 7 (Nationals lead series, 2-1)

The Nationals pour on the offense in an absolute drubbing of the Phillies in game 3 of their division series.

There were some weird patterns in the early innings. Jayson Werth led off the game with a single, then the next three batters were walked to score a run, but then the next three batters struck out. The Nats then started the 2nd with three straight doubles off Kyle Kendrick.

They ended up with 4 runs in that 2nd inning, but it was the 3rd when they put the game completely out of reach. Reliever Jake Diekman faced 6 batters but got just one out, and Ryan Zimmerman greeted Antonio Bastardo with a deep fly for a grand slam. Ian Desmond would add a 2-run big fly before the inning was over to give the Nats a 13-0 lead.

The Phillies did score 5 in the 5th, but never got closer than an 8 run deficit. Cliff Lee goes in game 4 against Ross Detwiler of the Nats.
