October 8, 2012: A's 1 Yankees 0 (series tied, 1-1)

What a game in Oakland! Brett Anderson and Andy Pettitte lock horns in a pitchers duel with both putting up donuts through 8. Pettitte had allowed just 2 hits and struck out 11, while Anderson had allowed just 1 hit and struck out 4. Grant Balfour took the hill in the 9th and it looked like a mistake, as he walked the first 2 batters and then gave up a sac bunt to put the go-ahead run on 3rd with one out. Ryan Cook entered in relief of Balfour and induced 2 ground balls - the first one went to 3rd and then got the runner at the plate for the 2nd out, while the 2nd ground ball was an easy 4-3 for the 3rd out.

Pettitte stayed out for the bottom of the 9th, and Jonny Gomes greeted him with a blast far and deep to win the game. Both games in this series have been won on walk-offs, and that's before the series moves to homer-friendly Yankee Stadium for the next 3 games!
