The Arizona Diamondbacks nipped the Detroit Tigers in 10 innings 3 to 2 at
Comerica Park in a hard fought contest.

Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Arizona
prevailed in the 10th inning. Wil Nieves blasted a solo shot. After an out
was recorded, Aaron Hill came up and he banged out a single. Justin Upton
struck out, unable to help the rally. Paul Goldschmidt got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Arizona totaled 9 hits on the night.

The victory was credited to Matt Lindstrom(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Lindstrom got help from J.J. Putz who earned his 5th save. Joaquin
Benoit(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief.
